Members of the Hobbs Fire Department visited hundreds of school children October 8-12 2007 during Fire Prevention Week. Our fire safety "clowns" stressed this year's fire prevention theme "Practice Your Escape Plan." The clowns encouraged children to develop and practice an escape plan from their home, and also taught about kitchen, candle, and medication safety; 911; and smoke detectors. Click here for pictures from this year's program.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and fire departments across North America observe Fire Prevention Week each October to mark the anniversary of the 1871 Great Chicago Fire and raise public awareness of fire safety. (Visit NFPA's website)
