FIRE MARSHAL Eric Enriquez CFEI, CVFI
Mr. Eric Enriquez currently holds the rank of Battalion Chief with the City of Hobbs Fire Department. His responsibilities include the duties of the Fire Marshal. As the Fire Marshal, he is responsible for the performance of the fire inspections, fire code enforcement, plans review, public fire safety education and fire investigations. The Fire Marshal assists the Fire Chief in several areas including the budget, grants, and other tasks as assigned.
Fire Marshal Enriquez received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from New Mexico State University in1991. Fire Marshal Enriquez has been in the fire service for 11 years. He began as a professional firefighter in 1997 serving the Las Cruces Fire Department and was recognized as 2007 Firefighter of the Year. He then joined the Hobbs Fire Department in February of 2009.
Fire Marshal Enriquez has received his Police Certification through the State of New Mexico and is a member of the National Association of Fire Investigators where he has earned his certification as a Certified Explosion and Fire Investigator. He currently serves as a board member for the New Mexico Fire Marshal’s Association.
FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU
The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for administering all the City of Hobbs fire prevention programs. These programs include fire protection systems, inspection services, investigations, new construction, youth fire awareness, oil and gas regulations, and hazardous materials regulation. The Fire Prevention Division uses a combination of full time and part time personnel, cross trained Operations Division personnel and program teams in pursuing program objectives.
The Division is responsible for ensuring that all buildings and facilities constructed within the City of Hobbs jurisdiction conform to all applicable fire codes and standards, that all buildings and facilities are inspected periodically to detect and correct fire hazards and code violations. The Division is responsible for determining the origin and cause of all fires and to initiate actions to prevent future fires. Fire Prevention is responsible for maintaining applicable records, accounting and related systems capable of supporting all fire prevention programs in accordance with state statutes and recognized administrative practices.
Under general direction of the Fire Chief, the Fire Marshal directs all activities of the division and is responsible for planning, administering and evaluating all fire prevention programs.
